Disney 2012 - Animal Kingdom day

Well, today's random freebie started off right away.  On our way in the park, Sherri and the kids were stopped by a worker asking if we wanted to be the family of the day in the park.  Duh.  It was either the three cute kids or the 3 matching Animal shirts they were wearing.  Anyway, we got to head back to Camp MinnieMickey well before anyone else came in, hang out with Chip and Dale for a while, and help them raise the Animal Kingdom flag.  Then, we were first in line to hang out with Mickey and Minnie for pictures.  Fun, right?

Not done yet.  Then, we got front row seats at the Lion King show.  Kate, Drew, and Ben then got to show the entire crowd how to do the Hakuna Matata dance.  This was doubly big for Drew as he doesn't like to volunteer for anything or be the center of attention.

Then, Ben got a special birthday thank you card.

Then, they got to get out and dance around with the people in the show.  Yowza, what a start to the day.  All of this took such a long time that we have decided to hit Animal Kingdom a second time on Saturday to catch the stuff we didn't get to today.  Very fun, the kids had a blast doing all of that stuff.

So, what next?  Rode the Safari ride a total of three times.  Had to stop due to giraffes in the road.  Saw every animal multiple times, many up close.  Kate and Ben called it their favorite ride.

We hit the Bug's Life show, not a big hit in our family.  Explored the trails.  Kate did Everest 3 times liking it more and more each time.  Spent time in DinoLand, especially in the playground and digging areas which was Drew's fave.  He got to learn a lot about mammoths.  Kali River Rapids resulted in Kate and Drew getting happily drenched.

Snacks were Mickey ice cream bars.  Ben was quite the sight to behold.  Lunch was at the Flame Tree.  Eating outside, there were a lot of ducks, ibis, and storks around waiting to pounce on dropped foods which made Drew a bit nervous.  As he calmed down and got comfortable with them, he even blurted out "Hey, look at the dorks!" in a bit of a spoonerism of ducks and storks.  That left everyone laughing for a while.

Quick jaunt to the hotel then we hit Downtown Disney for about an hour.  Kids spent the remainder of the money on a Kermit (Kate), Fozzie (Drew), and Animal (Ben).  2 of the 3 are currently being clutched during sleep.

Dinner at Boma, which was really good with really odd choices.  The main fave was fufu (some sort of sweet potato dish.  The boys were acting like they hadn't been in a restaurant before which resulted in some outside talks, but it was mostly fine.  Explored at night and saw some giraffes hanging out.

Off to bed and back to Epcot tomorrow which is the one park that hasn't resulted in some ridiculous freebie or day changing surprise at this point.  The pressure is on Epcot, let's see what you deliver.
